*Observations: This fantastic guitar was built in 1957 during the heart of Gibson's glory years. And it is very hard to put down!
There are some cosmetic issues, most notably the extensive network of finish checking that extends across all of its surfaces, as well as the back of the neck. There is extensive playing wear and some medium to large gouges and dents here and there, but no body cracks. On the headstock there is a large finish chip across the crown inlay, exposing the bare pearl beneath, along with a smaller similar chip on the Gibson logo. The bottom screw on base of the tailpiece has partially pulled out, but appears to be stable. It appears that the frets were nicely replaced sometime in the fairly recent past and there is very little fret wear. The hardware and the marvelous-sounding lone P90 pickup are original, and while the original pickguard is not currently attached, it is included in the case. A Gibson hard shell case is included, along with a set of Tomastik-Infeld George Benson flatwound stringsand a set of D'addario NYXL .011 to .052s.
None of these cosmetic issues are unusual or unexpected on a 70 year old guitar built during the Eisenhower administration, and none of them detract at all from how much fun this guitar is to play. The P90 pickup delivers a fat, warm, beautifully smoky tone and playability is fantastic, making this terrific instrument a surprisingly affordable way to own a piece of Gibson's Golden Age heritage.
