*Observations: This is a lovely guitar in very good condition (with Brazilian rosewood back and sides!) that plays and sounds fantastic. The finish is in good shape for a 63 year old instrument. There is extensive checking, particularly on the top and around the pickguard, which shows signs of light shrinkage as most guitars of this era do. The tortoise-shell binding is mostly in very good shape apart from a couple of small cracks, one on the treble side and one on the bass side.
There don't appear to be any cracks on the top, back or sides apart from some long finish checks. There is extensive play wear on the guitar, with lots of light pick scratching and swirling on the top and pickguard and lots of small dings and dents on the top and back. There are some particularly long, heavy pick/fingernail scratches on the top between the sound hole and the neck area.
Frets are in fantastic shape and may have been dressed recently. The bridge has a cut-in saddle and a compensated bone saddle was made for it at some point. Tuners appear original and work well.
The tone is big and full, with lots of dynamics and the wonderful dry woodiness that only older guitars seem to have. Playability is easy. This one is a winner.
