*Observations: Ibanez first introduced the Paul Stanley PS10 Iceman in 1978 as one of their very first signature model instruments. This one was made in 1979 and it shows Ibanez really hitting their stride as a major player in the guitar world, producing top quality instruments that surpassed most of what American companies like Gibson and Fender were doing at the time.
This one is all original and it is in very good condition overall. It's definitely been played, as there are scratches, scuffs and small dings throughout. There are some larger dents on the top, notably one above the bridge pickup and one near the mirrored plate behind the tailpice but nothing that exposes wood. There is a large dent on the back edge of the guitar that exposes a small bit of wood and another one on the back edge on the "tail" of the instrument. The back of the guitar has a good amount of buckle rash, deep dents and a couple of large scraped areas that look like they may have been roughly touched up, but there is just a bit of exposed wood. There are some dents and dings in the back of the neck as well.
There is some pitting and flaking on some of the chrome, and the mirrored pickguard and mirrored plate behind the tailpiece have some dulling and scraped areas. The cream binding has some wide discolored areas that have faded to a browinsh color.
Despite these cosmetic issues, everything is structurally rock-solid, with no cracks or major repairs and no missing pearl. The frets are in great shape and appear to have been fairly recently dressed. All the parts are original, including the killer-sounding pickups. The tuners, bridge, knobs, switches, and such are all exceptionally high quality and still work perfectly even after 45 years. Playability is excellent and the sounds are big and fat, perfect for delivering Kiss-approved hard-rocking 70s-style tones. This is a really fun, exceptionally well-made instrument from the golden era of Japanese guitar building.
