*Observations: Produced in 2010 and bearing Bill Collings' signature on the internal label, the condition on this marvelous-sounding dreadnought is very good indeed. The only thing knocking it down from "excellent" being a two significant patches on the back where the finish has been "smeared" and clouded and cannot seem to be polished out. The rest of the guitar has light to medium playing wear---light scuffs and scratches, normal swirling on the pickguard, and a few tiny dimple-sized dents here and there. There are some small dents just in front of the bridge and below the strings behind the soundhole. There is also a small dent on the top rear edge of the headstock and a tiny finish "ripple" on the front edge of the headstock. There is some very slight fret wear beginning in the lower positions, but almost none anywhere else. An Amulet M pickup is installed, making it stage-ready right out of the case.
The setup is perfect and the tone is what you'd expect from one of these stunning instruments, big and loud with plenty of low-end thunder and yet still capable of delivering chiming highs and harmonic detail. What a killer guitar!

The square-shouldered 14-fret dreadnought is the most popular steel-string acoustic guitar body shape in the world. While Collings is certainly not the only company to build them, they bring a new tonal clarity to the depth and warmth usually associated with such a large, deep-bodied guitar. Although its bass response makes the dreadnought ideal for vocal accompaniment, Collings versions are also often employed by bluegrass flatpickers who must compete with inherently louder instruments such as banjos and fiddles.
