*Observations: This is a fun, cool-sounding instrument that just drips with 60s mojo. Introduced by Danelectro in 1961 and co-designed by legendary session guitar ace Vinnie Bell, the Bellzouki is an electric 12-string guitar inspired by the look and vibe of Greek and Turkish bouzoukis. Its groovy tone is perfect for psychedelic '60s flower power jams as well as rootsy rock and roll.
The condition is good on this 1965 example, but there are a few issues. The action is high, and the screws that adjust the bridge height are corroded and partially stripped, so some attention from a luthier will probably be necessary to improve playability, unless you plan to use it for slide. The finish has numerous dings and dents, and some chipped spots where the finish has been knocked away, particularly on the back of the neck. The original enclosed tuners have been replaced with 6-on-a-strip open gear units and are functional, but some of them are stiff and tougher to turn than others.
Despite these problems, all the parts besides the tuners appear to be original and the electronics sound great and work correctly. With a little potential work, this guitar will provide swingin' '60s tones for days!
