*Observations: This is a rare original Danelectro "Baby" Sitar, made in the late 60s. These are really fun instruments but this one is a bit of a project and is priced accordingly. While the action is high but playable, the intonation is so far off that playing anything above the 4th fret won't be in tune. A professional luthier would have to address this to improve the situation. In addition, while the tuners are basically functional, they are extremely loose and wonky. Other condition issues include a replacement pickguard and knobs, a non-original brass nut, and a missing knee-rest, as well as numerous paint chips, scratches, dents and dings all over the place, as you'd expect on a well-played guitar of this era. The pickup surround appears to be home-made. There are two holes in the neck heel where attempts to install a strap button may have occurred, and one in the back of the guitar.
Now for the good news! This guitar is extremely lightweight, the original lipstick pickup sounds good and the electronics work perfectly, producing a sound you've heard on numerous classic hit records. The frets are in good shape, and the bridge and tailpiece are original and function exactly as they should. A vintage hard shell case in fair condition is included.
The bones are great here and should you choose to put a little work into this guitar, it could be a real winner.
