Early 90s Sovtek MIG 50 Head w/ Mods & Matching 2x12 Cab (Used)

*Observations: Sovtek began producing these Russian-made amps in the early 90s and they quickly became loved by players of may genres for their raw, ballsy tones. The MIG 50 is somewhat similar to a Bassman/early Marshall circuit with more gain on tap when pushed, making it great for rock, punk and doom sounds when cranked. 

With the exception of a few light scuffs, scratches and minor tolex dings, this head and matching 2x12 cab are cosmetically pretty clean for a roughly 30 year old amp. There have been some mods, repairs and upgrades. All of the pots have been replaced with panel pots, and the caps have been replaced with the exception of the first filter caps in the power supply. The electrolytics and some burned resistors have been replaced, and the amp's original plastic jacks have been replaced with metal Switchcraft jacks. The internal bias pot was removed and tip jacks have been added to the back panel for easier bias adjustments. The speakers have been replaced with two Celestion V-Type 12" 16 Ohm units, with the cab wired to 8 Ohms.

Currently the amp is biased to run with 6V6 output tubes rather than the original 6L6/5881s. This allows the amp to run at around 30 watts, providing quicker breakup and more compression than its original 50 watt setup. This requires that the 16 Ohm output of the amp be used to plug into the cab's 8 Ohm input. A pair of 6L6 tubes are included with the amp, should you choose to have it re-biased to run with the original output tubes at the normal 50 watt spec.

Amp schematics, documentation of the repairs and mods performed, a Y cable for plugging into both front panel input jacks simultaneously, and a bag of the old parts are included.
