*Observations: This gorgeous guitar was hand-crafted by celebrated Austin, Texas luthier Mark Erlewine, builder of instruments for guitar luminaries like Billy Gibbons, Mark Knopfler, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnny Winter, Don Felder, Rick Nielsen and many others, as well as being the man responsible for the maintenance that keeps Willie Nelson's legendary "Trigger" guitar in good working order.

This guitar was made with wood from "The Tree", an enormous 100-foot tall Mahogany tree that was felled in the Chiquibul rain forest in Belize in 1965. Most of The Tree was lost when a logging error resulted in a large part of the trunk falling into an unscalable ravine. What remained was eventually harvested in the 70s and became highly sought after by woodworkers  for the extraordinary beauty of its figuring, and particularly coveted by luthiers for being dazzlingly resonant and lively as well. Wood from The Tree is extremely difficult to get hold of and guitars made from it are rare and don't come up for sale often. Over the years guitars made from The Tree have sold for prices as high as $30,000 to $40,000.

This one is in excellent condition, with only some light playing scuffs and scratches on the top and back and almost no fret wear. The electronics are in great working order and playability is terrific. A certificate of authenticity signed by Mark Erlewine and a simple gig bag are included.

Of course, the mahogany body from the Tree is absolutely stunning, with strikingly swirly figuring that is so incredibly three dimensional that photos can't completely do it justice! The lovely transparent cherry red finish and white top binding really enhance and accentuate the beauty of the extraordinary woods utilized here.

This is truly an exceptionally gorgeous instrument with a rare and distinguished pedigree, in fantastic condition!
