Description

*This is a used amp in very good condition.
*This is a consignment item.

*Observations: This is a great sounding Fender reissue amp in very good condition. The brown tolex has faded to a greenish grey color, possibly due to smoke exposure. It's also a possibility a previous owner may have tried painting the tolex and then did their best to strip it back (there is what looks like a greyish paint splash on the lower rear panel). The tolex is mostly in good shape, aside from a few medium sized gouges, primarlily on the left side panel, and some light lifting at the corners.

The front and rear control panels have faded a bit with age. The grille cloth has yellowed over time and has several very small rips in the fabric. The metal tilt-back legs are still here and work well. Metal parts show the expected dulling and scratches from normal gig use. The production code is "BE", indicating that the amp was built in the early 90s, probably 1991. The original Jensen-labeled speakers have been replaced with two Celestion G10S-50 10" speakers.

Despite a few cosmetic issues, this amp sounds fantastic--loud, clear and punchy, just the way one of these amps should.

'63 Re-issue Vibroverb (1990–1995)

(from Wikipedia)

As demand for vintage Fender tube amplifiers had increased, several re-issue models were introduced in 1990, beginning with the tweed '59 Bassman amplifier, the brownface '63 Reverb unit and the brownface '63 Vibroverb.

Fender made great efforts to reproduce the tone and look of the original unit. A "direct-coupled" oscillator circuit was used for generating the vibrato (albeit with different components). The noticeably "warmer" reverb sound of a vintage brownface Vibroverb (due to the original reverb send and recovery circuit unique to the Vibroverb) was also present. The cosmetics incorporated the brown "Tolex" and wheat-colored "Ecru" grill cloth used in 1963, as well as the "flat" Fender logo plate found only on the brownface amps.

Although cosmetically and—more importantly—tonally accurate, there were several notable differences to be found (solid-state rectifier, printed circuit boards, ¼" reverb/vibrato footswitch jack, 3-prong power cord). The Fender '63 Reissue Vibroverb listed for $900 (US) when it was released in 1990.

Notable users of the '63 Re-issue Vibroverb include Richard Thompson and Jeff Buckley.
