*Observations: Over the years, Fender Japan has produced a number of different Yngwie Malmsteen signature models, as well as several guitars clearly inspired by the Swedish maestro but not officially bearing his name. This guitar falls into that category. Inspired by Yngwie's CBS era Strats, this one bears the neck stamp "ST-SC", denoting "Strat-Scalloped Neck" and a body stamp "YWH" for the Yellow White finish. The "Crafted in Japan" serial number indicates a production date of 2002-2004.
The finish on this guitar looks great, with no notable dings or buckle rash. The pickguard is scratched from normal playing wear and the chrome on the hardware has some light pitting. The frets have some wear in the form of dents and grooves, mostly in the first few frets but elsewhere as well, but playability is very good. The back plate is missing, as are the string trees on the headstock. The tremolo arm is missing. The original strap buttons have been replaced with DiMarzio Clip-Lok straps, and a Clip Lok stap is included.
As stated before, this guitar plays really well, with the scalloped frets allowing very easy string bending and control, and the electronics work well and sound great. It may not be an "official" Malmsteen signature model, but this one has everything you need to kick out all the Teutonic shred jams you can muster.
