*Observations: Here's an unusual one, for sure. In the early 90s, Fernandes introduced the Nomad travel guitar, small and compact enough to take almost anywhere, and featuring an onboard mini amp and speaker. On top of that, it also includes a built-in effects processor by Digitech with presets offering distortion, reverb, delay and modulation as well as crude drum patterns to play along with!
Cosmetically the guitar is in very good shape. However, although the effects, rhythm machine and built-in amp produce sound and seem to work normally, the tones here are extremely noisy and hissy, close to the point of being unusable. This is the case even when the Nomad is plugged into an amp. Without another Nomad to compare this one to, it is unclear whether or not this is normal operation.
The better news is that the playability is decent and the Nomad's compact stature (only 33" from head to tail) and near-full-size 24" scale length make it a perfectly usable practice instrument when traveling even if you don't intend to plug it in or use the built-in electronics.
