*Observations: This is a great-sounding '61 Reissue SG/Les Paul that is in overall very good condition. It appears to have been refinished to its present TV yellow/faded white color. There are traces of red beneath the finish and there is some red showing at the binding on the neck pickup edge of the fingerboard as well as a bit inside the pickup cavities and the control cavity. Unless Gibson painted over a cherry finish, which seems unlikely, this points to a re-finish, and it has been priced accordingly. The white control cavity plate looks like it may be a replacement, but apart from that the pickups and all the other hardware appear to be original. Gibson serial numbers from any era can be a bit challenging to decipher but this one appears to have been built in 2000.
The pickup covers, bridge and stop bar have a significant amount of light corrosion/patina and there is a lot of play wear in the form of scuffing and scratching on the pickguard and surfaces. There is an 8 mm-wide finish dent on the top as well as some longer scratches and some light buckle rash on the back. The front strap button has some circular scratches around it and a couple of light finish cracks extending from its base.
Setting aside these cosmetic issues, the electronics work great, fret wear is minor and playability is terrific, making this a really fun, cool-sounding player-grade guitar.
