*Observations: This is a very pretty Gibson J-185 EC ("Electric Cutaway") acoustic with a great pickup system and it is in very good condition, especially for a guitar that is already over 20 years old. It has a lot of playing wear in the form of scratching and scuffing on the top and especially on the pickguard. There is a large dent on the top on the treble side of the lower bout as well as a few smaller dents and medium-sized scratches. The back and sides have similar dents and scratches, and the back also has some light buckle rash. There are no cracks. The flame maple on the back, sides and neck is beautiful.
The top edge of the headstock has a bit of orange-peel texture in the finish, but aside from a few spots that have slightly dulled or sunken a bit, the finish has retained its gloss. The gold plating on the tuners still looks really good. The frets are in great shape, with only a tiny bit of wear on the first few frets.
The tolex on the case is a little beat, with lots of scratches and some small tears, but everything functions well.
The pickup system sounds terrific and playability is excellent. This is a great looking guitar that is stage-ready and really fun to play.
