In 2013 Mateus Asato received his first Suhr Classic Antique. Little did anyone realise at the time, he would go on to become one of the most inspirational and in-demand guitar players in the world today. He has performed with artists such as Tori Kelly and Jesse J, just to name a few.
The Mateus Asato Signature Series is available in two finishes: Gloss Black and Antiqued Shell Pink. Both models feature Suhr's Even C Medium neck profile, which is carved from silky-smooth satin finished Roasted Maple. The Indian Rosewood fingerboard features a 9″-12″ compound radius and is appointed with 22 stainless steel heavy frets. A Gotoh 510 tremolo, V63+ single-coils, and Custom Alnico humbucker complete the specs. Each guitar comes with a special laser-engraved neck plate, Mateus’ signature on the back of the headstock, and is delivered in a classy black tolex hardshell case.

Suhr's Silent Single Coil II system (SSCII) is a proprietary passive 60-cycle hum reduction system that has no impact on tone, no batteries to change - just transparent noise reduction.
Mateus Asato has established himself as one of the most melodic and inspirational guitar players in the world today. His collaboration with John Suhr has resulted in the all-new Asatobucker®, a vintage-inspired bridge humbucker with superb warmth and touch sensitivity. Alnico IV magnets are used to create the soft and sweet attack that is the quintessential Mateus sound.
The V63+ started with John’s V63 design and he overwound it, creating a hotter pickup with more output and incredibly rich tone. Previously referred to as the ‘ML’, they've updated the name to help players better understand the tonal response and sound. The V63+ pickups offer a balance of tight lows, focused midrange and smooth top-end sparkle. V63+ pickups incorporate a modified staggered pole piece design to provide an even magnetic field needed to accommodate instruments with flatter neck radiuses and today’s string gauges.
The Classic Antique is equipped with staggered locking tuners which provide improved tuning stability and eliminate the need for a traditional string tree.
