*Observations: This cool EB-3 bass has seen a good amount of action over the years and has a few condition issues but it's in great playable shape and is mostly original. The serial number dates to the early 60s, and the features of this one suggest a probable 1962 vintage.

The usual scuffs, scratches, dings and gouges that you'd expect on a heavily-played 64 year old instrument are here, including numerous finish chips on the back of the neck and significant buckle rash on the back of the body. The headstock has been broken and repaired and although it looks a bit rough cosmetically, it is structurally sound. The thumb rest was moved off the pickguard to an area above the low strings, a common mod on basses made in this era. There are circular marks around the strap button and there is wear on the frets and fingerboard, but playability is good.

The original pickup selector knob was replaced with a very large one at some point in the distant past but a chicken head knob (possibly the original?) is in the case pocket. The original bridge and tuners are intact and in good working order but the foam on the mute is worn flat and does not fully mute the strings when engaged. Replacing the foam should solve the issue.

The original electronics and pickups are here and they are in good working order and sound great. Currently it is strung with a well-worn set of flat wound strings and the original hard shell case is included. This one is a great player's instrument from Gibson's golden age that still has plenty of rock and roll left in it.
