*Observations: This is a beautiful dreadnought guitar with all the classic appointments that make Martin's celebrated "42" series instruments so special.
Condition is very good, especially for a 20-year old guitar. The pickguard has a lot of long, light scratching and swirling from normal play wear. There are several small fingernail-size dents on the top, with two larger dents, one near the rear edge of the top and two on the treble side of the lower bout between the bridge and the top edge. The back of the guitar has little buckle rash, but there are some small dents and light scratches, a long scratch on the treble side and a deeper scratch on the bass side. The sides are mostly clean, with the exception of some noticeable scratches near the endpin.
The back of the neck looks great, but there is a fair amount of scratching on the bottom edges of the headstock near the tuners, possibly from fingernail or string winder contact. There is also a small nick on the side of the headstock near the D string tuner. There is almost no fret wear.
Playablity is wonderful, with low, comfortable action and the tone is big, bold and lively. The abalone on the top border and the fingerboard inlays is bright and colorful, the grain of the rosewood back and sides is straight and lovely and the top has a tight, even grain. This is one handsome, fantastic-sounding and great-playing instrument!
